Member Greeting Committee

We are creating a buddy system for our new members. Members

will show the new members around, introduce them to new

friends, take them to fitness/tennis classes and show them how

the club works. One night a month we will have a new member

“meet and greet” to let your buddy meet all the other new members

and share in some great fellowship.

Please contact Susan Fernlund if you want to be a fitness

buddy or Kimberley Boesche if you want to be a tennis buddy.

What do you do for a living

We have gotten a few members who want to let the rest of the

club know what they do for a living. We are going to be putting

the information up on the wall to let the other members know

where they can spend their money and still keep it in the club

family. You can still give us your information if you would like to

share it with the rest of the club.

If you need a service that is provided by one of our other members,

please put them first on your list to do your work.

Singles Ladder

The singles ladder is up and running. If you would like to join,

we are still accepting new players. It is absolutely free and a

great way to meet new tennis friends and get singles match

tough.

Pro Shop

We have some racquets and shoes at the club! If you are in the

market for new shoes or a new racquet, we have the best

prices and even have some things in stock. If we don’t have it,

we can order it and still get you the best price possible so

please think of us before you purchase anything anywhere else.

New Weekend hours

We are going to be open at 7:00am on Saturday’s and Sunday’s

starting March 1st and ending May 31st. We will reevaluate

at that point to see if there has been enough usage to justify

opening at 7:00am instead of 8:00am

February 2012 Newsletter

Kory Rogers, General Manager

February, 2012

Manager’s Message

January was a very busy month here. We kicked

it off with the Century Tournament. Thank you to

all who participated and those who came to

watch. It was a weekend filled with a lot of good,

competitive fun. The results are on page 2. We

then had our big event of the year, the 2012 auction.

This event was again spearheaded by

Jo Wayles and Tilly Gibbs who we can not thank

enough for the many hours of work they put in to

make this night a success. There were also

many others who worked behind the scenes and

at the event selling dinner and raffle tickets, decorating

the tables, soliciting donations, donating

items, setting things up, taking things down, and

much, much more. Thank you to all of you who

invest your time and spirit on this night and

throughout the year. We are happy to announce

that we raised a whopping $24,000.00 !!!!

The month wrapped up with our Fitness Jamboree.

On Saturday we had our instructors teaching

sample classes to our members and the community.

It was well attended and many people are

planning to come back for more. Thanks to

Marius, Thad, Sumara, Anna and Richard for

contributing your time and expertise to this event.

Meanwhile I have been working with the Ashland

Parks and Rec to solidify our Spring and Summer

Tennis programs. We will have a full page in their

next program and we are looking forward to partnering

with them .

We also have an ad in the sneak preview for new

fitness members. If they sign up by February

29th, we will waive the initiation fee. We have already

seen some results from this. Please tell

your friends about this special offer!

Futsal

We have leased out our courts on some non peak Saturday

evenings to a low flight version of soccer called Futsal for

$200 p/session. This also allows about 100 players and parents

who haven’t ever seen our club before to get an opportunity

to visit our beautiful, great club.

Some precautions have been taken to make sure our courts

are not damaged. 1) all the players wear non marking shoes

2) the ball is low flight, so it can’t hit any lights 3) everything

on the courts gets moved and is put back in its original position.

January 2012 Newsletter

Manager’s message

We have many new and exciting Fitness and Tennis Events coming in January.  Please continue to check the front desk for a list of all your options.

Thank you for all of the emails that I’ve received about the direction of the Fitness Program, your input is deeply appreciated.

We are servicing our cardio machines, and purchasing some new cardio equipment!  I hope you enjoy the new options.

In January/February we are offering no initiation fee for fitness members, so please tell your friends!

From The Board President

The ATFC Board of Directors has reluctantly accepted the resignation of Kelly Sacks.  Kelly is working ten hours per week at the club as Kory’s assistant and she felt that she could better serve the club in this capacity than finishing her term on the board.  We will miss her wise counsel, thoughtfulness, and joy.  We are happy, though, to have a wonderful replacement for Kelly in Justine Bowen-Jones.  Justine will serve out the remainder of Kelly’s term, which ends in May.  Justine brings a long-time association  with and knowledge of the club plus a keen, inquisitive mind and the ability and interest to tackle a number of pressing issues.  We happily welcome Justine to the ATFC Board.
