The culmination of 11 months of work\u00a0 with the city of Ashland planning department, a private consultant to help us navigate the city planning process, biologists, surveyors, contractors, civil and structural engineers, landscape architects, the Department of State Lands and the DEQ has recently resulted in approval by the city of Ashland to proceed with building 4 outdoor tennis courts on the lot next door. If the tennis gods are with us they will be available for play by next summer. A rendering of the project is attached.<\/p>\n

Each of the 4 courts will be individually fenced and there will be an asphalt running track around the perimeter of the property.\u00a0 Plans also call for a gathering patio for members to enjoy each other’s company.<\/p>\n

ATFC\u00a0 indoor competition courts have sky lights that allow in a lot of natural light, a high ceiling and LED bulbs which produce consistent bright lighting. The hard surface courts were completely surfaced with Plexipave, the world’s leading acrylic tennis court surface. The curtains separating the courts completely enclose each court and are 2′ higher than standard height so rarely will a ball stray from another court. Thermal insulation, open vent ventilation, two 24-foot ceiling fans and two large evaporative coolers\u00a0and 3 heaters keep the courts at a reasonably comfortable playing temperature throughout the year.<\/p>\n

We also offer a ball machine, a premier feature for players of all skill levels. This machine offers a customizable and consistent practice experience, allowing you to refine your strokes, improve your footwork, and build endurance at your own pace. \u00a0<\/p>\n

ATFC participates in “RecycleBalls,” an innovative 501(c)3 nonprofit that began in 2017. The Vermont based company has partnered with Wilson Sporting Goods Co. to pioneer an effort\u00a0to collect\/recycle\/reuse 20 million tennis balls in the U.S. over the next three years. Its mission is to recycle\/and reuse every tennis ball in the United States.<\/p>\n
